Album

10,000 Days is the fourth studio album by American rock band Tool. The album was released by Tool Dissectional and Volcano Entertainment on April 28, 2006 in parts of Europe, April 29, 2006 in Australia, May 1, 2006 in the United Kingdom, and on May 2, 2006 in North America. Recording took place at O'Henry Sound Studios in Burbank, California, The Loft, and Grandmaster Studios both in Hollywood, California. It marked the first time since recording 1993's Undertow that the band had worked at. The fourth and until August 30th, 2019 most recent Tool album is a catch-all affair full of strange jams, further artistic experimentation and a ,000Days is almost as adventurous as Laturalus but a bit more mystical. I might say that this album has the power to keep you listening Every single track is over 7 minutes long. After Lateralus I thought Tool had peaked and it could not be topped. 10,000 Days is different. Don't expect crunching rhythms with every track - this album is more of a journey. The arrangement is amazing, and the production incredible. So 10,000 Days is a Tool album. That's all there is to it. It conforms to exactly the same highs great musicianship, unique songwriting and lows useless filler, over-ambitious conceits as every other Tool album. As usual, the longer songs have their bad moments and good moments, but overall, are pretty good considering. The only difference is that, here, the strike rate of good songs to bad ones is moving in the wrong direction not by much, mind, and most of the good stuff is bunched at the start of the album. Thankfully, 10,000 Days was worth the labor pains and wait to deliver. It's not only a step forward for the band, but a re-embracing of the epic-length rock songs found at the roots of early heavy metal. The album starts out with Vicarious, which features some of Maynard's most straightforward lyrics since Ænema's Hooker with a Penis. 10,000 Days is the Grammy Award-winning fourth studio album by American rock band Tool. The album was released on April 28, 2006 in parts of Europe, April 29 in Australia, May 1 in the United Kingdom, and May 2 in North America. By the end of 2007 the album had sold 2. 5 million copies worldwide and has been awarded a Platinum certification by the RIAA. The album spawned three singles, Vicarious, The Pot, and Jambi. Categories: Tool Studio Albums. Albums with songs that are more than 10 minutes long. When Tool released their fourth album, 10,000 Days on May 2, 2006, fans had been waiting five years for the follow-up to Lateralus. Before that, they waited five years for the follow-up to Ænima. You couldnt fault the quartet for what they did with the time: Each Tool LP is an exercise in dense, experimental, multi-textured expression that couldnt come together quickly. The title 10,000 Days was soon used online as a reference to fans waiting times, but it may itself have been an indicator of how the band had changed again and, in particular, how frontman Maynard James Keenan had change. 10,000 days is the Grammy-Award winning fourth full-length studio album by Tool. By the end of 2006 the album had sold almost 3 million copies worldwide and in June 2006 the album was given a Platinum award by the RIAA. Five years later, Tool return with 10,000 Days. But rather than delving further into experimentation or exploring their strengths, Tool have made Perfect Circle record. Like singer Maynard James Keenan's side project, 10,000 Days is considerably less punishing and much more ethereal. Songs like Lost Keys and Vigniti Tires are dark ambient soundscrapes that just make you wonder where the drums went. And when they are there, they're decidedly less brutal than on Lateralus. On Right in Two they sound more like bongos. The title track features. 10,000 Days. Released May 2, 2006. 10,000 Days Tracklist. Vicarious Lyrics. Released five years after Tools critically acclaimed 2001 album, Lateralus, 10,000 Days debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The title refers to Saturns orbital period, although, the actual time frame is 10,759 days-or, roughly 27 years. According to vocalist Maynard James Keenan: Thats the time in your twenty eighth, twenty ninth year when you are presented the opportunity to transform from whatever your hang-ups were before to let the light of knowledge and experience lighten your load, so to speak, and let go of old patterns and embrace a new life

I feel like the vocals are extremely quiet and the bass is extremely overpowered. Looks good, no complaints aesthetically, except that it is a simple barebones sleeve, I just can't really listen to this like I like to listen to Tool, super loud, because his voice is drowned out and I have to turn the bass to negative just to enjoy it.

I recently found a NM copy at my favoured record store and took the opportunity. Now while the cat# on the back of the sleeve is the one without the Hyphen before "1 LP", the labels are exactly like in this release.Did anybody else recognize something like that?
Gamba
I recently bought a copy of this bootleg, and I totally agree with what's been said here. This press is on par with the CD, dead quiet, with just the random click here and there. Fingers crossed an official release will surface soon, a triple vinyl would be perfect for this masterpiece.
Goll
This is a great bootleg. I bought it just for aesthetics of having one, but it's really good. My copy two red LP's and when I turn it way up, it just gets louder. Based on the reviews from some others, sounds like not all of them are this quality. Very worth the $35 I spent on it.
INwhite
I have this on vinyl and bought it from ebay. I knew it was a bootleg copy as this album was never released on vinyl apparently. I got the edition with one blue and one orange 12" vinyl. Finally went to give it a spin and it isnt even 10 000 days. It is lateralus and not one song from 10 000 days. The stickers and jacket both say 10 000 days but it isn't. Has anyone else had this issue? I can't even seem to find another copy of this color variation. Any info?
Gom
My copy is on blue vinyl (both discs) and is definitely 10,000 Days. Want to sell your Lateralus?
Kelenn
The sound quality of this (bootleg) pressing is basically identical to the CD. Nothing to gain here except for the collector really. The CD is fairly brickwalled in terms of compression, it really deserves a 24bit /96k vinyl mastering. Undertow and Opiate are prime examples of how good Tool sound on wax. Why no official pressing has been released nearly 10 years on now remains a mystery.
Nuliax
My problem with this record: it is looking exactly the same like this but there is the Lateralus music on it not 10,000 Days. :( Anyone else do have this kind of problem?!
Vizuru
Mine is the same. But that's cool :)) I was surprised :D
Fenritaur
jep, got the same version here. bought it at a flea-market.
Huston
I have the same story with it. first lp is the Lateralus first...bummer
Ielonere
This is a very good sounding boot.Mine needed a serious cleaning when it was new.A few pops in quiet spots on this press but worth the 40$ I paid as these dudes don't care about vinyl. I was really impressed with the volume of it and everything rip from cd or not.
Ganthisc
I bought a second copy of this after mine was lost in the post - sound quality is amazing! Perhaps this is an official release that the band members made to look like a bootleg? Wouldn't be the first time they had tried to trick us with the vinyl pressings... certainly not the first time they had made spelling errors on a release!!
FEISKO
Spinning it for the second time right now, got it nice and cranked up this time to test the clarity and sonic depth at higher volumes, and I gotta say that for a boot.....WOW. This copy is definitely worthy of filling the unfortunate gap in the Tool vinyl catalogue.
Qutalan
I agree with the other posters. This "bootleg" is well worth the money and it sounds GREAT! This will fill the hole in your Tool vinyl collection with ease.
Virn
While I know we aren't on youtube here and the conversations are always practical and civil on Discogs, can we please appreciate a referance to 'filling your hole with ease' on a forum for a band that wrote the song stinkfist? I love it.
Wanenai
Wouldn't even consider this a bootleg because of how well it's made
Prince Persie
For anyone confused, because this is an "unofficial release" it just means that though it is a boot leg IE not in commercial print does not mean it is not a promo copy or that it wasn't pressed by the label. It just means that they weren't intended for sale. That's it. I lucked out on a copy and it sounds great. Not 180 gram audiophile vinyl great, but it actually surpasses a lot of Music on Vinyl issues.
RED
Labels don't press 1000's of "promo copies" - this is a straight up bootleg of a highly sought after item, and the band didn't see a dime.
Frostdefender
Excellent LPs, jacket, and sound quality for a bootleg! I would highly recommend getting this if you desire 10,000 Days on vinyl. Since no official release exists to date, it's as good as it gets!
Gela
My copy is a translucent red, almost pinkish, can someone provide info if this is a known colour?
Tygolar
If anyone happens to get two vinyls of sides c/d in their copy, please let us know. We got a copy, obviously with two vinyls of sides a/b in our order - still very frustrated about this.
Enone
I am having exactly the same problem now (two vinyls of sides a/b). Very frustrating indeed, did you find a way to work around this?
Oso
For a known bootleg, unofficial pressing, this sounds pretty good. About cd quality but any record collector knows that having the actual sound waves in wax in front of you is amazing nonetheless.Whoever pressed this did so with care. The discs are pretty heavyweight, the sleeve is fairly thick and sturdy, which is unexpected of a bootleg. All in all its not like most bootlegs which are solely a collectors item, not worth spinning, but this one is definitely a bit higher caliber. Awesome collectors item and good enough sound quality for a release that was never truly sanctioned!
